Calvary Baptist Academy uses the A Beka DVD program for grades 3-12.  Understandably, parents have questions regarding how this works.  The below information will explain the A Beka DVD program and how it will work for your child.

What is the A Beka DVD Program? 

For an entire school year, A Beka recorded their experienced teachers at Pensacola Christian Academy.  This quality tradition education is affordable and available to schools.

 Instruction is provided by master teachers on DVD.  The on-site teacher trains your child and classmates in proper classroom habits, checks homework and class work, grades papers, listens to oral reading, and supervises daily procedures.

At the beginning of the school year, your child will purchase a kit containing the textbooks and materials needed for DVD classes.  The on-site teacher will have a detailed instruction manual written by the DVD teacher. 

The entire program has been designed with your child in mind.  With the help of the on-site teacher, your child will be able to complete assignments and activities and relate to the DVD teacher and students as though he were actually in the classroom. 

Will students sit in front of a television all day?

No, actual viewing time is only about three hours of a seven-hour school day.   The viewing time is divided up throughout the day.  This allows time for the on-site teacher to give individual and class help.
